High romance and mouthwatering melodies, as the charismatic duo of Elena Urioste and Tom Poster play violin music from the young Richard Strauss and his contemporaries.

The Programme

There’s nowhere that a violin and a piano can’t go together. For the young Richard Strauss, and his neglected contemporary Luise Adolpha Le Beau, the Violin Sonata was the path to a world of epic vistas and glittering beauty. For the great Viennese violinist Fritz Kreisler, meanwhile, the aim was to charm and entertain, and his delicious miniature showpieces have been delighting audiences for over a century.

The Performers

This is a ravishing programme from violinist Elena Urioste and pianist Tom Poster. Their effortless rapport and dazzling playing made them an unexpected online sensation during lockdown, and they’re every bit as engaging live – especially in music as colourful (and as tuneful) as this.
