Rodrigo Moro Martín

Principal Double Bass

Born in Salamanca, Rodrigo began playing the double bass at the age of eight at the Antonio Machado School with Professor Javier Gil Ajero. He was the first international double bass student at the Yehudi Menuhin School and was offered a scholarship to study at the Royal College of Music with Caroline Emery. Upon graduating with first class honors, he was awarded the Tagore Gold Medal presented by HRH The Prince of Wales. Rodrigo obtained his Master’s degree from the Luzern Hochschule, studying with renowned professor Bozo Paradzik.

Rodrigo has won numerous prizes in international competitions, including first prize at the Royal College of Music’s Double Bass Competition and the Royal College of Music Junior Department’s Peter Morrison Concerto Competition.

Rodrigo has collaborated with the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, MusicAeterna, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Orquesta de Castilla y León, Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Orquesta Filarmonica de Gran Canaria and Orquesta Nacional de España amongst others.

He has taught double bass at the Forum Musikae school in Spain, and in 2023 took up a teaching role in the double bass faculty at the Royal College of Music in London.
